SUMMARY:John Thornton Photographic Art Retrospective\, Showroom Presents\, London
DESCRIPTION:This is a rare opportunity to see the works of John Thornton (Johnny to his friends)\, who was the most sought-after advertising photographer of the 70s and 80s. \nThis commercial success enabled John to seek greater artistic freedom which resulted in a surrealist creativity acknowledged as ahead of his time. His work was praised by many including Salvador Dali\, who remarked “…magnifico…fantastico…”. \nJohn Thornton died in March 2016\, aged 69. This exhibition is a retrospective of his works\, which is almost curated by Johnny himself. It features 44 low edition number pieces that are in themselves and anthology of his most creative works.
