SUMMARY:Katarzyna Coleman 'Compass' Art Exhibition\, Mandell’s Gallery\, Norwich
DESCRIPTION:Norfolk-based artist Katarzyna Coleman is exhibiting at Mandell’s Gallery\, Norwich until Saturday 31 March 2018 with a range of works in a show called ‘Compass’. This is her third show there following successful exhibits in 2010 and 2015. \n“Katarzyna Coleman’s work poses a fundamental challenge. Are we looking at a scene of former industrial strength with all its inherent virtues of solid purpose and unglamorous work\, or are we in the presence of precisely composed arrangements of form and tone? The answer is surely that there is no need to choose a response; we can take in both conceptions at the same time. Certainly\, the empty streets\, bereft of human presence and the closed-off vistas can suggest a timelessness even an existential mystery\, but at the same time all the qualities of that long tradition of disciplined and controlled abstract art are directly recognisable in the work.” – Robert Radford \nKatarzyna\, from London\, studied at Hornsey College of Art and Manchester College of Art. Her work explores industrial & urban landscapes\, predominantly the unarranged landscape near her studio in the harbour area of Great Yarmouth\, Norfolk. \n“In the most beautifully melancholic way\, Katarzyna Coleman approaches the depiction of the industrial buildings and roads of Great Yarmouth with great softness and subtlety. Coleman has chosen to depict the urban environment as a way of exploring its effects on the emotions and behaviour of individuals.” – Sarah Bartholomew\, REALITY exhibition catalogue\, 2014-15 \nPrivate View\nJoin Katarzyna Coleman at Mandell’s Gallery\, Norwich for drinks at the Private View of her recent works.
