An Encounter with George Jardine features stranded mermaids and night moths. Enter the world of George Jardine in a new exhibition with paintings and sketches from the Williamson Art Gallery collection.

George was born in Liverpool and lived in Wallasey in a house that he had personalised through artistic features, such as a decorated fireplace in the living room. He was educated at the Royal College of Art in London and taught graphics at the Liverpool School of Art for almost forty years. Much of his art was inspired by the landscapes of the North West and the Lake District and the natural world that he created in the garden at his Wallasey home.

He was a contemporary of the group of five artists featured in our major exhibition for the summer “The Dinner Party”.
